(ORDO NEWS) — The Japanese H3 rocket launched on March 6 from the Tanegashima Space Center in Kagoshima Prefecture, but its first test flight was completed ahead of schedule.
5 minutes 27 seconds after launch, the rocket was given the command to separate the first stage and ignite the second, but ignition of the second stage engine was not confirmed.
The speed of the rocket began to fall and the controllers gave the command to destroy the rocket.
The H3 rocket was supposed to launch a new Daichi-3 Earth observation satellite into orbit, but now the satellite, like the rocket, has unfortunately been destroyed.
Monday’s launch was the fourth attempt to launch the rocket. Initially, the launch was scheduled for February 13, but was postponed to February 15 due to identified problems in the flight control system.
The launch on February 15 was not allowed by weather conditions, after which it was shifted to February 17.
Then the attempt also failed: the launch was stopped after the solid fuel boosters did not work due to a failure in the electronics.
