(ORDO NEWS) — Japanese scientists have developed “smart” contact lenses that can magnify the image and help people with vision problems.
The lenses receive electrical signals from the eyeball and respond to blinking by receiving signals through five electrodes.
The lenses can zoom in and out with just the right blink. For example, a double movement of the eyelids will visually bring the object closer, and a single movement will move it away.
The new development could help people with limited visual acuity and even completely blind people.
After loss of vision, the eyes retain the ability to generate electrical signals, which are sufficient for the operation of contact lenses.
Although completely blind people will not have perfect vision with these lenses, this device can still help them solve many problems and make life easier.
