James Webb telescope took a picture of a spiral galaxy in the constellation Pisces

(ORDO NEWS) — A new image taken from this space telescope shows the galaxy M 74 (or NGC 628) in the mid-infrared. True, the picture looks more like a psychedelic whirlpool from a computer screen saver than a spiral galaxy.

The image of the galaxy NGC 628 “looks a lot like what our Milky Way looks like from the outside,” Gabrielle Brammer, an astronomer at the Cosmic Dawn Center at the University of Copenhagen’s Niels Bohr Institute, commented on the image on Twitter.

The spiral arms of NGC 628 have been captured by space observatory cameras before – below is a picture taken by the Hubble telescope.
