(ORDO NEWS) — “Between May 23 and May 25, the James Webb Space Telescope was hit by a micrometeoroid on one of its 18 mirror segments,” NASA said.
After initial diagnostics, the engineering team found that the micrometeoroid impact hadn’t clouded the Webb’s vision much, and that the telescope was still working properly.
No doubt it would be a shame if a space rock ruined one of the most expensive scientific instruments in the world, worth $10 billion.
