(ORDO NEWS) — Pandora’s curiosity, according to ancient Greek mythology, led to the discovery of a vessel that contained all the hardships and diseases that exist in the world today.
Let’s hope the new James Webb Space Telescope (JWST) image of the Pandora magacluster doesn’t lead to the same.
The Pandora Cluster or Abell 2744 is a cluster of galaxies formed from three separate galaxy clusters, which helps scientists to view more distant objects of space using the gravitational lens effect.
NASA estimates that there are 50,000 individual sources of infrared light visible in the image.
Objects can be seen if you look at the enlarged version of the image – on it, distant galaxies look somewhat distorted, acquiring an elongated and curved shape.
To obtain such a detailed image, the telescope took about 30 hours of observations with the Near Infrared Camera (NIRCam).
