(ORDO NEWS) — NASA‘s James Webb Space Telescope captures the uninhabitable exoplanet in detail. It is a gas planet with a rocky surface outside the solar system.
The image uses four different filters to showcase the mass and help scientists determine the age of the planet.
However, this is not the first image of an exoplanet. It was first discovered in 2017 and given the designation HIP 65426 b. Scientists are delighted with its further research.
“Getting this image was like looking for a cosmic treasure,” said astronomer Arynn Carter. “In the future, there will be many more images of exoplanets that will shape our common understanding of their physics, chemistry and formation. We may even discover previously unknown planets.”
