Jair Bolsonaro denounces the “hysteria” of the coronavirus

US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro on Tuesday denounced “hysteria” over the coronavirus epidemic and called for the maintenance of activity and the preservation of jobs, while the city of Sao Paulo entered confinement.

In an address, Bolsonaro urged mayors and governors to reconsider restrictive measures taken in the cities of Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo.

“We have to get back to normal (…) The authorities of some states and municipalities have to give up their scorched earth policy,” said the Brazilian president.

Bolsonaro is subject to many criticisms for his management of the health crisis, which he describes as “fancy” and “small flu”.

According to him, the terrible situation in Italy could not happen in Brazil because the Brazilian population is younger and the climate is warmer.

Brazil recorded 2,201 cases of coronavirus contamination and 46 deaths.
