US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — The number of people hospitalized in Italy due to coronavirus pneumonia for the first time began to decline, said Angelo Borrelli, head of the country’s civil defense service, on April 5.
According to him, for the first time since the start of the epidemic, less than 600 people died in a day.
Recall that over the past 24 hours the number of coronavirus victims in Italy increased by 525 and reached the level of 15,887.
According to authorities, less than 600 people a day have not died since March 19.
Borelli noted that 681 people died on April 4, and 776 died on April 3.
“Today there are two positive indicators: the number of hospitalized in ordinary wards and in intensive care units is decreasing,” Borelli said.
As reported earlier, 128.9 thousand people infected with coronavirus were detected in Italy. Some of them have already been recognized as recovered.
