US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Clients of the Italian bank Banca Sella have the opportunity to carry out operations with bitcoin, reports Cointelegraph.
Transactions go through the Hype platform. The Bank acts as an intermediary to prevent potential security risks when exchanging on crypto exchanges.
The platform is already used by about 1.2 million Italians who not only trade bitcoins, but also use cryptocurrency to pay for goods and services.
According to the publication, interest in Bitcoin as a safe way to transfer funds in Italy is growing under the strict quarantine regime associated with the coronavirus pandemic.
Cryptocurrencies were popular in Italy before quarantine. Last year, researchers found that Bitcoin became the third most popular means of paying for online purchases in the country, second only to the electronic payment system PayPal and the local PostePay prepaid card service.
