(ORDO NEWS) — In addition to the embodiment of sick ideas about world domination, Adolf Hitler spent most of his free time treating his many ailments. Moreover, the methods of this treatment were, to put it mildly, strange.
According to experts, the cruel dictator Adolf Hitler suffered from a variety of diseases. According to German doctor Ernst Günther Schenk, who worked to preserve Hitler’s medical records, the dictator suffered from flatulence, headaches, stomach cramps, constipation, diarrhea and drug addiction.
His condition was one of the reasons the leader of Nazi Germany became a vegetarian. He eliminated meat, fatty foods, and milk from his diet, relying instead on vegetables and whole grains. However, his ailments persisted and even worsened as stress and war took over him.
Hitler, despite the wealth of resources at his disposal, chose Dr. Thomas Morell as his attending physician. In those days, Morell was a fashionable doctor with an upper-class clientele. However, as a doctor, he was, to put it mildly, unprofessional.
So, for example, he often prescribed rather strange treatments for the Führer to help him with pain, uncontrolled gases and other problems caused by his ailments. Some of these treatments included testosterone injections, semen extracts, and prostate secretions from young bulls.
But for flatulence and stomach problems, Morell treated Hitler with capsules containing a strain of split E. coli and special tablets against gas formation.
These alternative therapies seemed to work in the short term, but the toxic alkaloid strychnine found in gas pills caused damage to the liver and stomach. In addition, Morell’s treatment, which included narcotic substances, led Hitler to become addicted to drugs.
Hitler increasingly gave injections containing drugs that immediately energized him. He used them before loud speeches or announcements to maintain his usually flamboyant, active and combative style. During the Second World War, when the war turned against Germany, Hitler began to make these injections more often.
So the resistance of the dictator to drugs increased, so Morell had to increase the dosage. The fact that Hitler was visibly energized by the injections and developed resistance to them, experts say, suggests that he took amphetamines.
Also, the leader of Nazi Germany suffered from irritable bowel syndrome. In the medical community, irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) is a term used to describe a range of digestive symptoms.
Although IBS is often discussed as a separate disease, it represents a wide range of digestive problems. Patients are often diagnosed with IBS until a specific cause for the symptoms is found.
In Hitler’s case, experts refer to his diagnosis of IBS as colitis. Colitis is an inflammatory bowel disease that can cause swelling and ulcers in the colon.
Some of its symptoms also include abdominal pain, cramps, diarrhea, fatigue, fever, and more. These symptoms are consistent with what Dr. Schenck wrote about Hitler and would explain the dictator’s uncontrollable flatulence.
