US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Gravity forces each object to attract all other objects. Some people think that there is no gravity in space. In fact, a small amount of gravity can be found everywhere in space.
Gravity is what keeps the moon in orbit around the earth, gravity makes the earth rotate around the sun. It holds the sun in place in the Milky Way galaxy. Gravity, however, becomes weaker with distance.
A spaceship can go far enough from Earth, but the person inside it will still feel very weak gravity. But this is neither related nor connected with why things float in a spaceship in orbit.
The International Space Station revolves around the Earth at an altitude of about 400 kilometers. At this altitude, Earth’s gravity is about 90 percent of what is on the surface of the planet. In other words, if a person who weighs 100 kg on the surface of the Earth rises to the international space station, then he will weigh 90 kg on it.
