Iran to attack US ships in case of conflict
US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — If US ships threaten Iran’s security, the Iranian military will attack them, Hossein Salami said. A day earlier, President Donald Trump ordered firing on Iranian ships in case of dangerous rapprochement.
Iran will destroy American warships that threaten the country’s security, said the commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC), Hossein Salami, reports Reuters.
He made this appeal the next day after US President Donald Trump ordered firing on Iranian ships if they pursued American ones.
“I ordered our Navy to destroy any American terrorist forces in the Persian Gulf that threaten the security of Iran’s military or non-military ships,” Salami threatened. He noted that the safety of the bay is one of Iran’s strategic priorities.
On April 22, Trump announced that he had ordered firing on Iranian patrol boats if they pursued American ships. He later posted on Twitter a video of one of the incidents when Iranian patrol vessels approached an American warship.
“Sleepy Joe (Joe Biden, a possible rival of Trump in the presidential election from the Democrats. – ed.) believes that this is normal. Me not!” – said Trump.
The US military reported a dangerous approach of 11 Iranian warships to US Navy ships on April 15. As indicated in their report, Iranian ships approached the US at a distance of ten yards (9 m).
