(ORDO NEWS) — Intel Senior Vice President and Head of GPUs Raja Koduri announced the creation of a special Bonanza Mine processor for cryptocurrency mining.

First, to try it out, it will be sent to Jack Dorsey’s Block company and mining Argo Blockchain and GRIID Infrastructure.

Intel is hiding the technical specifications of the chip for the time being, and says that they will be announced on February 23 at the ISSCC conference.

“The chip is an energy-efficient ‘accelerator’ designed to accelerate blockchain tasks that require huge computing power and therefore consume a lot of energy,” Intel said in a statement to Reuters.

The company noted that the architecture of the chip is implemented on a “tiny piece of silicon.”

It was previously reported that UCLA professor Christopher Tang said the microchip shortage problem will last at least three years.
