(ORDO NEWS) — Scientists at Westlake University in China have found pathogens inside cancerous tumors. These bacteria contribute to the development of metastases and the resistance of cancer cells.
The study was carried out with a mouse breast cancer model. There were many bacterial colonies inside the tumors, which made it possible to trace the relationship of microorganisms and defective cells during spread through the circulatory system, which led to metastasis of neoplasms.
It turned out that bacteria can form an active cell network, and they also contribute to the survival of cells under conditions of mechanical stress in the bloodstream.
In this case, only one injection of bacteria into the tumor is enough to cause life-threatening metastasis, even if there was no such risk before.
