(ORDO NEWS) — An Indian couple is suing their son and daughter-in-law for failing to give birth to their parents’ grandchild in six years of marriage.
A married couple, aged 61 and 57, are demanding that their pilot son and daughter-in-law produce a grandchild within a year or pay them the equivalent of nearly $950,000.
The figure was calculated based on their claim to have spent on raising and educating their son, including his pilot training, as well as the couple’s wedding and honeymoon.
“We made him a pilot with great enthusiasm and happiness and spent our life savings on him, thinking that someday he will give us the happiness of being grandparents.”
“It’s been six years and I feel like we have nothing left in our lives.”
The emotional father said that it is difficult for him and his wife to even see children from other couples, as this gives them difficult emotional experiences.
“When kids play and walk past our house, it breaks our hearts,” he said.
“My wife is also very fond of children. But, as they say, we don’t get what we love the most.”
The case has been approved by the Haridwar local court and will be heard next week.
