(ORDO NEWS) — In Uganda, residents of a village in the Kasese district managed to save a child who was swallowed by a hippopotamus. It is reported by Capital Radio.
A two-year-old boy named Paul Iga was left unattended by his parents for some time.
A child was playing on the shore of a lake when a large hippopotamus suddenly emerged from the water and tried to swallow it.
The villagers, who witnessed the attack, rushed to help and began to throw stones at the animal. As a result, the hippo spat out the boy and swam away.
According to eyewitnesses, when they arrived in time to the scene , Iga was already half swallowed. The unconscious child was taken to the hospital.
To the surprise of the doctors, after such a test, Iga not only survived, but also did not receive serious injuries. He quickly recovered and was soon sent home with his parents.
The police spoke to the parents of young children and warned them that a child left unattended outside the home could become a victim of attack by wild animals, especially near water bodies.
Earlier it was reported that in Australia, a mother’s quick response saved a child from being bitten by a deadly venomous snake. The incident was recorded by a CCTV camera.
