In Germany, an unknown disease kills birds
US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — German environmentalists are currently reporting a very large number of dead tits.
The first cases of bird death were recorded on March 11. It is not known what causes the death of tits, perhaps we are dealing with a new disease.
– We were informed about the first cases of detection of dead birds on March 11th. They were found in Rhineland-Hesse and Rhineland-Palatinate, a NABU bird protection expert said. By April 8, their number increased to 150. Dead birds were found mainly in Westerwald, Rhineland-Palatinate and in the central part of Hesse in the west of Thuringia,” added Marius Adrion.
Since tits became victims of this disease, and they appeared only in the spring, this is not like any of the known bird diseases. All this suggests that we are dealing with a new, rapidly spreading infectious disease.
The birds sick with this disease are indifferent, they are not afraid of the presence of people, they refuse to eat. Often their beaks and eyes are closed, in addition, it seems that they have breathing problems.
NABU experts hope that with the help of bird lovers who monitor the information on the organization’s website, they will be able to quickly get more information about the disease and take appropriate action.
