(ORDO NEWS) — Three workers in France unearthed a cache of 1600s coins worth nearly half a million dollars.
Three builders working to rebuild a house in the French commune of Plozeve in Brittany unearthed a metal box placed inside a wall that contained gold coins.
A few days later, over a beam, they found a wallet with another pair of coins.
The Regional Archaeological Service in France reported that all 239 coins found were minted during the reigns of Louis XIII and Louis XIV.
After the auction, the funds will be split between the builders and the two owners of the estate where the coins were found.
