US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — A recession, similar to a recession during the global financial crisis or even worse, awaits the global economy in 2020.
This was announced on Monday by the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva.
“The forecast for global growth for 2020 is negative – a recession, at least such as during the global financial crisis or worse. However, we expect recovery in 2021,” said a statement by Georgieva, distributed following a teleconference of finance ministers and central bank heads of the Group twenty (G20).
