IMF head said the global economy entered a recession
US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — The world economy has entered a recession, which is similar or even worse than the one that occurred during the global financial crisis of 2008-2009.
This was announced on Friday by the managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) Kristalina Georgieva during a video briefing for journalists.
“Now it is clear to everyone that we have entered a recession, which is just as terrible or even worse than in 2009. We expect a recovery in 2021, a significant recovery, but only if we manage to cope with the virus around the world and prevent liquidity problems.”
She noted and added that we are talking about a“ fairly deep recession in 2020.
