Hundreds of dead birds fall from the sky in Sri Lanka
(ORDO NEWS) — Dead birds are falling from the sky and authorities initially announced that it may be due to avian flu, but studies have shown that birds that died in the rice fields of Ralamaduwa in Wanathawilluwa on the border of Wilpattu National Park did not suffer from avian flu.
Several days ago hundreds of dead birds were found dead, and among them were various species known as “Sarala Vi Kurulla”, “Gela Kalu Kurulla” and “Maha Tikiritta”.
Veterinarian Isuru Kottegoda of the Wildlife Department told media that biological samples from dead birds did not show any indication that they had avian flu.
The cause of the mass death has not yet been clarified.
