Holy Fire shared with representatives of ten countries

US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Lighted lamps with the Holy Fire symbolizing the miraculous light of the Resurrection of Christ were brought from the Church of the Holy Sepulcher to the Jaffa Gate of the Old City of Jerusalem and handed over to representatives of 10 countries.

Ambassador Anatoly Viktorov will deliver the lamp to Russia and deliver it to the representatives of the Andrew the First-Called Fund.

Viktorov believes his mission is very exciting: simple in form and important in content. According to the diplomat, he seems to be transferring fire to those believers and pilgrims who will not be at today’s service.

Employees of the Russian embassy and previously participated in the fire delivery process, but have never performed such an important task. And now, due to diplomatic status, Viktorov has a pass to the airport airfield, which the representatives of the Russian Spiritual Mission do not have.

Now access to the Old City of Jerusalem due to the coronavirus is allowed only to local residents, media officers, firefighters, police and doctors.

For the first time, the solemn ceremony of the consecration of fire took place behind closed doors of the Church of the Sepulcher (Resurrection) with the participation of a few clergymen of the Armenian, Assyrian, Greek, Coptic churches, reports RIA News.
