US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Google wants to get into the wallet of users after Apple – TechCrunch published the images of a debit card with the branding of the American search engine that got to it. Journalists have received evidence that Google is the source of the materials.
It is assumed that the card can be both physical and virtual, and will allow you to make purchases, paying for them from a linked account, not only using the plastic itself, but also using a smartphone or in online stores.
A special application will be created to manage the card — to view funds on the account, completed purchases or blocking. Among partner banks, perhaps, Citibank and Stanford Federal Credit Union appear.
A source at the company told TechCrunch that Google expects to create a full-fledged competitor to the Apple fintech system, which includes the Apple Pay payment function and the physical Apple Card. It will significantly expand the capabilities compared to the current version of Google Pay.
Recall that Apple is no longer the only large IT company offering its physical bank card to users. Recently, a similar product was introduced by Chinese Huawei .
