(ORDO NEWS) — Google has announced that it has stopped selling online ads in Russia. This ban applies to both search and YouTube.
Leading online ad seller Google (a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc) followed suit by Twitter Inc and Snap Inc after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
The company emphasized that this decision was influenced by the situation with the war against Ukraine.
In light of the extraordinary circumstances, we are suspending Google advertising in Russia. The situation is evolving rapidly, and we will continue to share updates when necessary, ” explained Google.
In addition, Google previously banned Russian state media from buying or selling ads using its technology. Like, their policy prohibits marketing that tries to take advantage of the war, with the exception of protest or anti-war advertising.
At the same time, Russia’s communications regulator Roskomnadzor ordered Google to stop showing ads about Russian casualties in Ukraine, and then asked that YouTube stop showing ads about Ukraine.
Earlier we reported that Google expressed support for Ukraine and helped with the work of some functions.
