(ORDO NEWS) — The main page of the Google search engine is concise: a logo, a search bar, and a few buttons. The company decided to enable users to use the empty space to good use.
It became known that Google is testing the ability to add widgets at the bottom of the search engine page in the desktop version. 9to5Google, which has already tested the new feature, reports that a “Hide content” toggle appears in the lower right corner of the Google homepage.
The lower left corner displays the user’s location as well as a message, the suggested information is provided based on the user’s previous online activity.
How Google Widgets Work
When the Widgets feature is active and the browser window is maximized to full screen, the user is presented with six map widgets that expand when hovering over them. Users are offered the following six widgets:
- Weather;
- Trending (suggests the most popular search query);
- What to watch (offers movies and TV shows);
- Stocks/Markets;
- local events;
- News about COVID-19.
Important ! It is worth noting that widgets are currently not available for all Google accounts. The company is likely testing a new feature and gathering feedback on it before deciding on a full rollout.
