US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Global demand for energy will drop by as much as 4.9 million barrels per day, or about 4.9 percent, in 2020 due to an outbreak of the coronavirus, Rystad Energy, said on Wednesday.
The company last week expected demand to drop by 2.8 million bpd in 2020.
The demand for oil for April is expected to decrease by 16 million barrels per day, compared to a year ago, said Ristad.
Ristad predicted a decrease in the demand for aviation fuel by 20 percent on an annual basis, or 1.4 million barrels per day, while air transport traffic is expected to decrease by 8 percent. She said that the demand for auto fuel will drop 5.6 percent, or 2.8 million barrels per day.
