Freezing temperatures set new record in Beijing

(ORDO NEWS) — On Thursday (Jan 7), temperatures in the Chinese capital dropped to their lowest level in more than five decades as hurricane winds and harsh weather hit Beijing.

Temperatures dropped to minus 19.6 degrees Celsius Thursday morning, breaking the previous cold weather record set in 1969.

Thousands of people took to social media to complain about the weather in the city with the hashtags “How cold is this winter?” and “Beijing’s Temperature Reaches Its Lowest Level Since 1966” – These topics are trending on Weibo with 240 million views.

“I heard the wind shouting to me: I want to kill you!” One of the residents wrote.
