(ORDO NEWS) — Drinking filtered coffee will help prevent type 2 diabetes. Swedish scientists came to this conclusion based on the results of the study.
Umeå University and Chalmers University of Technology studied the blood biomarkers of people who consumed filtered coffee. Volunteers were previously divided into 3 groups.
Participants of the first drank 2-3 cups of the drink per day, and the second – less than 2 cups. Volunteers from the third team drank boiled coffee at all.
After a study of blood results, it turned out that participants in the first group had a 60% lower risk of developing type 2 diabetes compared to volunteers in the second group.
At the same time, there were no significant changes in the analyzes of those who drank the boiled drink.
The authors of the study noted that many people wrongly believe that any coffee has a negative impact on the health of the heart and blood vessels.
Only brewed coffee has this property, which really increases the risk of such diseases due to the presence of diterpenes. As a result of filtration, these substances enter the filter.
As a result, the health benefits of the drink increase, because people take mainly phenolic substances. Scientists also noted that coffee only in small quantities is good for health.
At the same time, the researchers believe that it is too early to draw conclusions about how best to prepare this drink. The quality of coffee depends not only on filtration, but also on how the beans are processed.
