(ORDO NEWS) —
There is massive coral bleaching in Fiji’s Exclusive Economic Zone, according to the Fiji Meteorological Service.
Coral bleaching occurs over a wide area of Fiji, the Fiji Met report says.
Coral bleaching occurs when the sea water is too warm and the corals secrete algae known as zooxanthellae living in their tissues, causing the coral to turn completely white.
Fiji Met said in its forecast that temperatures are forecast to be above normal in most of Fiji’s waters in December 2020.
