(ORDO NEWS) — A man from France did not like that his children spend too much time on the Internet. That’s why he turned it off… All over the city. Father who resorted to drastic measures faces up to six months in prison and a large fine
According to Gizmodo , the father from France, whose name has not been released, was desperately trying by all means to prevent his children from spending too much time on social networks.
In the end, he bought a jammer to block the Internet and turned it on from midnight to three in the morning so that the children put their phones away and go to bed.
Unfortunately for my father, the jamming device turned out to be so powerful that it turned off the Internet not only in his house, but also in the entire city of Messange, a popular holiday destination in southwestern France, 80 kilometers from the border with Spain.
The local police received complaints from about 1,000 residents, and the Internet service provider contacted the authorities.
The police used a radio goniometric device to detect the jammer and went to the father’s house. The investigation is still ongoing, and the man faces up to six months in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros (about 2.5 million rubles).
Such jammers are prohibited in France (and many other countries) by law. In Russia, there is formally no law that would completely prohibit the use of signal suppressors.
However, the owner of the device is obliged to register it, otherwise it may fall under Article 13.4 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation.
There are less drastic ways to reduce screen time for kids. For example, find other ways to keep the kids entertained, add tech-free time to your family’s schedule, and avoid using gadgets in the kitchen or living room.
