(ORDO NEWS) — The famous Kashmiri trout stream has disappeared into a sinkhole, causing fear in the Kokernag region of southern Kashmir.
The famous Brengi stream in the Kokernag district of Anantnag County has been draining into a sinkhole for the past two days, leaving the rest of the stream dry.
Brengi Creek is one of the most famous trout fishing streams and attracts anglers with its varieties of brown trout. Two days ago, a huge funnel formed in the stream, into which all the water from the stream flowed.
As a result, there was no water left in the lower reaches of the stream, which led to the death of a large number of trout. The district authorities reported that about 50 pieces of water are currently flowing into the funnel.
It should be recalled that in winter all streams and rivers in the valley have a minimum flow. Authorities have imposed Section 144 of the Criminal Code in the area to keep people from approaching the sinkhole as dozens of locals visit the site to see the disturbing spectacle.
