(ORDO NEWS) — A cold snap is expected in most parts of Mongolia this coming Monday and throughout the week, with overnight temperatures ranging from 39 to 47 degrees Celsius below zero, the country’s meteorological agency said.
The weather agency said heavy snow and blizzards are hitting the eastern and western parts of the country, urging the public, especially nomadic herders and drivers, to take extra precautions against possible disasters.
The climate of Mongolia is sharply continental, with long and cold winters. Temperatures of minus 25 degrees Celsius are standard in winter. Unstable weather phenomena are also characteristic of the country throughout the year.
