Eurozone deflation risk low but real – ECB
US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — There is a small but real risk of the eurozone slipping into deflation, Robert Holtzman, member of the Governing Council of the European Central Bank, said on Tuesday.
“Probability is not excluded. The size of (risk) is small, but not zero,” Holtzman said at a press conference.
“If deflation is caused by the collapse of the real economy, I think it will be difficult to cope with it only with the help of monetary policy, but, rather, decisions should be made that apply to the real sector of the economy,” he added.
