US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — European stocks rose on Monday amid a slowdown in coronavirus deaths in Italy and Spain, but investors remained cautious about the worst quarterly reporting season since the 2008 financial crisis.
The pan-European STOXX 600 index rose 0.26% to 10:04 UTC.
The German DAX index added 0.39%, the French CAC – 0.37%, the Italian stock index – 0.1%.
Analysts expect STOXX 600 to report a 22 percent drop in profit in the first quarter, while earlier forecasts indicated a 10.5 percent increase, according to IBES from Refinitiv.
