Europe predicted a new wave of coronavirus
US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Europe should prepare for the second wave of coronavirus infection that could occur in autumn, said Hans Kluge, head of the European Bureau of the World Health Organization, in an interview with the Daily Telegraph.
A WHO spokesman also warned that a wave of influenza or measles could be expected in the fall season.
Kluge noted that now is “time for preparation, not for celebration.” He drew attention to the fact that some countries that introduced restrictions to combat COVID-19 are starting to abolish them, however, in his opinion, this may be a hasty decision. Kluge emphasized that a slowdown in the number of cases does not mean the imminent end of the pandemic.
In total, according to the World Health Organization , 4.2 million people were infected with the coronavirus, more than 287 thousand of them died.
