Elon Musk’s Martian rocket could make its first flight in July

(ORDO NEWS) — The head of the company himself spoke about the readiness for the first flight of the Starship rocket.

Elon Musk has long been threatening to establish a colony on Mars, but so far he has faced a bunch of “terrestrial” problems. Now almost all of them are solved

Musk tweeted the news shortly after the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) released the results of a long-awaited environmental assessment.

According to its results, SpaceX can launch Starship rockets from its Starbase facility in Boca Chica, Texas, if it fulfills a number of requirements to mitigate the impact of launches on the ecology of the spaceport.

First flight of Starship

The 120-meter Starship rocket consists of a Super Heavy first stage and a Starship second stage. This reusable vehicle will be the most powerful rocket ever launched into space when it finally leaves the ground. It is planned that this transport will one day take astronauts and supplies to the Moon and possibly Mars.

SpaceX has already tested the second-stage Starship spacecraft, but only in high-altitude flights, not in orbit. On the other hand, Super Heavy has never flown before.

The first launch promises to be a spectacular sight – 33 Raptor engines should lift the Super Heavy into the sky, exuding a bright white light. Just three minutes after launch, Starship will separate from Super Heavy in a mission expected to last around 90 minutes.

Successful testing of Starship will allow NASA to use a modified version of the Starship spacecraft to send the first woman and the first black person to the lunar surface.

This mission is scheduled to take place no earlier than 2025. The vehicle could also be deployed to deliver supplies to the Moon to help build NASA’s proposed lunar base.
