(ORDO NEWS) — Elon Musk has floated the idea of turning Twitter‘s San Francisco headquarters into a homeless shelter, stating that “nobody shows up at the office anyway.”
Six hours after Musk posted the poll, an overwhelming majority of users voted to repurpose Twitter headquarters in line with his proposal: about 91% of the 912,867 votes.
San Francisco, a wealthy city that is home to several well-known technology companies, has a large homeless population. In 2020, there were an estimated 5,200 homeless people on the streets of San Francisco.
Some time later, Musk posted another poll, this time asking his followers if they would like to “remove the w on twitter.” The only possible answers to this question were “Yes” and “Of course”.
It was revealed last week that Musk acquired a 9.2% stake in Twitter, making him the company’s largest shareholder. Twitter later reported that Musk had been appointed to the company’s board of directors.
