(ORDO NEWS) — Tesla CEO Elon Musk shared his concerns about the development of artificial intelligence with those gathered at the Tesla Investor Day.
Elon Musk has said artificial intelligence (AI) in general “gives me a headache” and worries it may have helped accelerate this “dangerous technology”.
Musk has long been skeptical about the development of artificial intelligence , despite being one of the founders of OpenAI and creator of ChatGPT.
However, Musk spoke about his concerns about artificial intelligence, saying, “I’m a little worried about AI.”
He said the technology should be overseen by a special body to ensure it “works in the public interest.”
“This is a pretty dangerous technology. I’m afraid that maybe I did something to speed it up,” he said.
“Some AI things are obviously useful, like what Tesla is doing with self-driving.”
Musk was also asked if AI could be used to build cars.
“I don’t see AI helping us in car manufacturing anytime soon,” he said.
Just last week, Musk tweeted that he has “an existential longing for artificial intelligence.”
He later tweeted, “But given all the circumstances surrounding AGI [evolved AI] existential angst, I’d rather be alive now to witness AGI.”
The Venture Beast website said that AGI is “the ability of an AI to understand or learn any intellectual task that a human can perform.”
While the early incarnations of the AI didn’t appear to have evolved strongly enough, it was enough to make Musk worry.
