(ORDO NEWS) — SpaceX assembled the Starship spacecraft last week by placing a prototype of its Ship 24 upper stage on top of the Booster 7 first stage on the company’s South Texas orbital launcher.
This activity means that Starship is on the home stretch for its first orbital flight.
SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk confirmed this intention on April 10, tweeting: “Starship launch is expected towards the end of the third week of April.”
Thus, Starship will start flying no earlier than April 20, although the dates from April 10 to 17 were previously called.
Ahead of the launch of Starship, SpaceX released a video of the spacecraft flying to Mars.
