(ORDO NEWS) — The quarantine pest in the role of the American white butterfly was observed by specialists of the forest protection department in the Republic of Adygea.
The white butterfly poses a threat to over 300 species of trees, shrubs and herbaceous plants, especially mulberry, ash, willow, poplar and walnut.
Until 1980, the white butterfly did not pose a threat to plants in the Krasnodar Territory and the Republic of Adygea, but 40 years ago this insect multiplied dramatically and spread in the forests of the Kuban.
In 2022, checks were carried out in the circle of the pest and in two ash areas of the Takhtamukay forestry of the Krasnogvardeisky forestry.
As a result of surveys, adults and clutches of the American white butterfly were observed on the foliage of ash undergrowth.
The information was entered into the database for further monitoring and analysis of the development of the insect pest population.
