(ORDO NEWS) — Among the red sandy terrain, wind-eroded sedimentary rock is visible, which slightly resembles a duck. Image obtained by Curiosity on October 22, 2022.
People like to turn vague images into well-known patterns. This is exactly what is called pareidolia, but in this case, the similarity of this stone with a duck fully meets all the requirements.
NASA‘s Curiosity rover is currently studying Massive Sharp Mountain, which forms the central peak at the center of Gale Crater.
In ancient times, this crater was filled with water, and later, when the water disappeared, dirty deposits remained here.
Over time, they turned into layered stones, destroyed over billions of years by the winds and dust storms of the planet.
This process produces very strange looking rocks that can take the form of a duck or other creature.
