(ORDO NEWS) — Scientists have created a robot that learns from people to adapt to the situation.
Researchers at Chalmers University of Technology in Sweden have developed a new form of artificial intelligence (AI) that can adapt to perform tasks in a changing environment by observing human behavior.
Project leader Maximilian Diehl explained that robots working in a human environment must be adapted to the fact that humans are unique and can solve the same task in different ways.
Currently, robots mostly perform a point algorithm in a pattern that is not suitable for interacting with people – for example, those in hospitals.
Swedish scientists decided to find out whether it is possible to teach a robot to “humanly” approach problem solving, and also whether it is possible to develop artificial intelligence that, during training, extracts general rather than specific information, Reedus writes.
During the study, several people completed the same task – stacking stacks of small cubes in a virtual reality environment.
The task had to be completed 12 times, each time in a different way. People‘s movements were tracked using a set of laser sensors.
