US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — At one of Xinfadi largest wholesale markets in Beijing, a coronavirus was discovered on a cutting board for imported salmon. This was reported by Xinjingbao, citing market leaders.
In Beijing, on June 11, for the first time in 56 days, a new case of infection with the coronavirus COVID-19 was recorded . A 52-year-old man who recently hasn’t left the capital fell ill.
On Friday, June 12, local authorities reported two more new cases of coronavirus infection. Both sick men, 37 and 25 years old, worked at the China Meat Research Center. Both live in the Fengtai area. In the past 14 days, one of the sick traveled to Qingdao. According to the second man, in the past two weeks he has not left Beijing anywhere and has not contacted anyone from Hubei Province and from abroad. After confirmation from coronavirus patients, the Beijing authorities began checks and an epidemiological investigation.
As it was established, the salmon was delivered from the Jingshen seafood market. Currently, nine people related to imported fish are quarantined. Tests for the presence of coronavirus infection are still negative.
The samples were taken from items containing vegetables, fruits, beef, pork and lamb, the virus was not detected.
The first highest level of response has been introduced on the market. Halls with seafood , beef and lamb are temporarily closed. Vegetable and fruit halls will work as usual.
According to city officials, the Jingshen seafood market is closed.
