Coronavirus may cause delusions in the elderly

US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Coronavirus infection in the elderly can be accompanied by atypical symptoms such as falls, delirium, conjunctivitis, tachycardia. This is stated in the seventh version of the temporary guidelines of the Ministry of Health of Russia, published on the agency’s website on Wednesday.

“Patients of old age may have an atypical picture of the disease without fever, cough, shortness of breath. Symptoms of COVID-19 may be mild and may not correspond to the severity of the disease and the severity of the prognosis. Atypical symptoms of COVID-19 in elderly patients include delirium, falls, conjunctivitis “Delirium, tachycardia, or a decrease in blood pressure can be observed,” the document says.

The Russian Ministry of Health has prepared a new, seventh version of temporary guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of patients with coronavirus infection. They clarified some symptoms, especially the course of infection in the elderly, as well as indications for hospitalization.
