US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Household confidence in the European Union fell in March amid a coronavirus pandemic, show the first results of the European Commission’s monthly survey.
Its consumer confidence index was down by five points to -11.6 in the euro area at first estimate and by 4.5 points across the Union to -10.4.
And these figures only partially reflect the development of sentiment in recent weeks because the Commission specifies that the investigation was interrupted earlier than usual in a large majority of countries. The published estimates therefore only take into account around 15% of the responses.
