US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — Scientists from Argentina deciphered the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus genome, the disease causing the official name “coronavirus infection COVID-19” from WHO.
Work was carried out with pathogen samples obtained from local patients.
Decoding the genome of different strains of the new type of coronavirus will help improve the quality of the diagnosis of the disease and more effectively monitor its spread.
The fact is that the virus, spreading around the globe, is constantly changing a little.
Scientists sent information about the “Argentinean” SARS-CoV-2 genome to the GISAID database in Germany. It collects information on the genetic profile of the pathogen from many countries of the world.
Currently, 1,423,642 cases of COVID-19 coronavirus are recorded in the world, 81 857 people died, 301 623 were cured.
