Chinese scientists decide to attack near-Earth asteroid 2020 PN1
(ORDO NEWS) — Chinese scientists have named a target for the planetary defense mission. They plan to attack the near-Earth asteroid 2020 PN1.
In four years, China intends to launch the Long March 3B rocket, Long Lehao, chief designer of the Long March rocket series, said. Experts plan to use a special probe that does not create additional threats to the Earth.
Work in this direction will be monitored using a special satellite. The diameter of the asteroid 2020 PN1 is 40 meters.
In the future, Chinese scientists intend to work out the technology to protect the Earth from such objects, as well as more effectively correct their course.
