US, WASHINGTON (ORDO NEWS) — China has warned Japan and other countries in the Asia-Pacific region (APR) against deploying US medium-range missiles in their territory. This was announced on Wednesday by the official representative of the Ministry of Defense of the PRC, senior colonel Wu Qian.
“The Chinese side hopes that Japan and other relevant parties will proceed from considerations of ensuring peace and stability in the [Asia-Pacific] region and exercise caution in making decisions, and also will not allow the United States to deploy medium-range missiles on its territory, so as not to become victims of US geopolitical plans,” he said.
As Wu Qian said, “China is strongly opposed to the deployment of medium-range missiles by the United States in the Asia-Pacific region.” “If the United States continues to adhere to this plan for accommodation, then for China it will become a provocation” right on the doorstep of his house.
“The Chinese side will not sit idly by and take all necessary decisive retaliatory measures,” he concluded.
On June 19, Secretary General of the Cabinet of Japan Yoshihide Suga said that Tokyo is not currently considering deploying American missiles on its territory in connection with the termination of the Treaty on the Elimination of Intermediate and Shorter Range Missiles (INF Treaty).
