(ORDO NEWS) — More than 200 space events will be held in China ahead of Cosmonautics Day, an official from the China National Space Administration (CNSA) said.
Relevant space exhibitions will be open to the public, and academics and experts will hold popular science lectures for young people online and offline, said Liu Bo, deputy director of the Systems Engineering Department of CNSA at a press conference for China’s Space Day on April 24.
He noted that China’s Space Day in 2022 is intended to inspire the public to acquire scientific knowledge, generate innovative ideas, and promote the scientific spirit.
Since 2016, China has set April 24 as the country’s Cosmonautics Day to commemorate the launch of the first Dongfanghong-1 satellite into space on April 24, 1970.
