(ORDO NEWS) — The Chinese Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC) has officially confirmed that it has begun work on the creation of a super-heavy Long March 9 rocket, which in the future will be able to deliver taikonauts to the moon.
Long March 9 is due to go into space before 2030, it will take over the implementation of the Chinese lunar program, in which it is planned to build stations both in lunar orbit and on the surface of the Earth‘s natural satellite.
According to the latest data, the Long March 9 will have a diameter of 10.5 meters and a height of 110 meters. The rocket will be able to launch up to 150 tons of payload into low Earth orbit and up to 50 tons into lunar orbit.
CASIC is also working on two other space projects – a new manned spacecraft, which will first fly no later than 2027, and a lunar lander.
